The O'Connor Academy of Irish Dancing was founded in 2007 by Angela O'Connor. Since then the Academy has been consistently growing. The classes are aimed to teach children and adults the traditional steps that make Irish dancing unique but also with the contemporary twist that has made Irish dancing the phenomenon that it is today.
Our classes incorporate many skills such as timing, rhythm, flexibility and posture. In our classes these skills are developed further and beyond. The classes are taught in a fun environment but are also disciplined to bring out the best dancer in each individual. We are registered with 'An Coimisiun Le Rinci Gaelacha'. As a competitive school we will teach each dancer the importance of respect, discipline, training and team work which will in turn help to build their self-confidence and form lifelong friendships.
- We are one family!
- We support, encourage and help each other to grow.
- Everyone's time with the academy will be enjoyable and valuable.
- We will not try to dance better than anyone else; we will only try to dance better than ourselves.
Within the Academy we encourage dancer's to perform in both competitions and show dancing. We run a successful Christmas dance show which takes place every other year. Our 2012 show went down a storm and had a sold out audience of over 220 people. Our annual class feis is something that that whole Academy looks forward to every year.
Our social calendar is very busy we have two dancers party's every year to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our dancers, one in the summer and one at Christmas and we organise regular social events for the whole family to attend.
